Running Pace Calculator
Enter any two of distance, finish time, and pace, and this calculator solves for the third instantly. Useful for working out what pace you need to hit a goal finish time, what time a given pace produces over a race distance, or how far you actually covered on a run. Switch between kilometers and miles at any point.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my running pace?
Divide your total time by your distance. This calculator does the division for you -- enter your distance and finish time, and your pace fills in automatically, in minutes and seconds per kilometer or mile.
What's a good pace for a beginner runner?
Most beginners run somewhere between 6:30 and 8:00 per kilometer (about 10:30-13:00 per mile). Pace depends far more on fitness, terrain, and heat than on any fixed standard, so track your own trend over time rather than comparing to others.
How do I convert pace between km and miles?
Multiply a per-km pace by 1.60934 to get per-mile pace, or divide a per-mile pace by the same number to go the other way. This calculator converts automatically when you switch the distance unit.
Is pace the same as speed?
They describe the same thing two ways. Pace is time per unit distance (minutes per km); speed is distance per unit time (km per hour). Runners use pace because it's the more intuitive way to plan race splits.
