The Course: Inside Clark Freeport
The 2026 race started and finished at Filinvest Mimosa+ Leisure City inside the Clark Freeport Zone, and was the first leg of Cycles & Brew's Brew Run Series, marking the café's tenth year [4][1]. The post-race report called the Clark Freeport course fast but did not describe the route [1]. The organiser's page has a race-maps heading but no route we could read [3], so check the map once it is published for 2027.
The Weather: Cool for the Philippines
Clark International Airport, a few kilometres from Mimosa+, recorded 20°C with a dew point of 17°C and 83% humidity at 5am on 25 January 2026, with a 2-knot breeze [5]. It stayed at 20°C until 7am, rose to 22°C by 8am and reached 24°C at 9am, when humidity had dropped to 61% [5].
That is about as comfortable as a lowland race in the Philippines gets. January is Clark's cool, dry season, and the organiser expects similar conditions for 2027, giving a forecast of 23°C to 24°C and sunrise at 6.25am [3]. Half marathoners on a 5am gun run more than an hour in the dark.
How Fast the Field Is
John Carlo Lugtu won the 2026 half marathon in 1:33:43 and Hazel Mata won the women's race in 1:37:15 chip time, third across the line overall [1][2]. Behind them the field thinned quickly: the second woman finished in 2:03:37, the tenth man in 1:46:20 and the tenth woman in 2:23:39 [2].
Of 151 half-marathon finishers, 115 were men and 36 women; 32 broke two hours, the median time was 2:19:50 and 13 took longer than three hours, the slowest 3:16:38 [2]. The 10 km was won in 35:57 and the 5 km in 19:52 [2]. Top-three age-group places in the half are within reach of a steady club runner.
Race Weekend Logistics
The rave is the point of difference. Five DJs played around the venue after the 2026 race, with specialty coffee and music for finishers [1]. The launch announcement billed it as a finish-line party and offered competitive and fun categories with age-group awards [4].
Entry has become cheaper. In 2026 the Long Black half marathon was listed at PHP 2,199 at the regular rate, the 10 km at PHP 1,999 and the 5 km at PHP 1,299 [6]; the 2027 half marathon is PHP 1,899 [3]. Chip-timed results with gun and chip times for every finisher are on MyRunTime [2].
Should You Enter the 2027 Race?
Yes, if you want an easy-going half marathon with cool air, a small field and a party at the end, or a first 21 km with a generous 3-hour-30 cut-off [3]. Every 2026 half-marathon finisher came in under that limit [2].
Look elsewhere if you need crowds and a big-city atmosphere: with about 150 half marathoners in 2026, the field spreads out early.
The 2027 race is on Sunday 24 January at the same venue, with the 21 km starting at 5am [3]. Nobody from this site ran the race. This review draws on a post-race report, the official 2026 results, the organiser's race page, race listings and airport weather records.
