The 2023 Race
Amata City Bien Hoa, the developer of the Amata industrial park in Long Binh ward, held its first Happy Run on the morning of Sunday 17 December 2023 for businesses and residents in and around the park [1]. It offered a 10 km and a 5 km [2]. The organiser said 750 runners took part, and proceeds went to a programme that buys bicycles for disadvantaged students in Dong Nai; 50 bicycles were handed over at the ceremony [1]. No start time, route map or cut-offs were published for 2023.
The Weather: Mild and Damp Before Sunrise
Open-Meteo's reanalysis for the grid point at Long Binh shows about 23°C, a 22°C dew point and 96% to 97% humidity at 5am and 6am, with a light breeze, then 24°C at 7am, 27°C at 8am and 29°C at 9am [4]. The air was mild but close to saturated before sunrise. Runners who finished by 7am had the best of it.
How Fast the Field Is
The 10 km had 182 finishers. It was won in 37:15 by a man, and the fastest woman, in 46:16, finished in the top ten; tenth place was 46:27 [5]. The median finisher took 1:09:01 and the slowest tenth more than 1:36, with the last finisher at 1:45 [5]. Just over a quarter broke an hour, and 23% of finishers were women [5].
Every 2023 10 km finisher would have made the two-hour limit set for 2026 [3][5].
Should You Enter the 2026 Race?
Yes, for the 10 km or 5 km, if you want a low-cost, low-pressure community run with a charity purpose, near Ho Chi Minh City.
Think twice about the new 21 km if you want a proven half marathon: no earlier edition had one, and its limit is three and a half hours [3].
The 2026 race is on Sunday 13 December at the Amata industrial park, with a 21 km, 10 km, 5 km and 3 km, and start times still to be announced [3]. Early-bird fees run from VND 285,000 for the 3 km to VND 485,000 for the 21 km, and part of the proceeds goes to local schools [3].
Nobody from this site ran the race. This review draws on the organiser's report, the 2026 entry page, the 2023 10 km results and modelled weather data.
